How big do Doberman Pinschers get?
Height at the withers: Male Doberman Pinschers can get to 26 to 28 inches tall, ideal about 27 1/2 inches. Whereas, Females can get to 24 to 26 inches tall, ideal about 25 1/2 inches. There is no "standard" for weight but the ideal Doberman would have sufficient size for an optimal combination of strength, endurance, and agility. Females may weigh around 60-75lbs and males 75-90lbs.
Why are they called "Doberman's"?
A German named Louis Dobermann is credited with developing the Doberman pinscher breed in the late 1800s. He was a tax collector and wanted a fierce guard dog to accompany him on his rounds. Dobermann also kept the local dog pound, where he had access to many strays.
No one knows for certain, but Dobermann is thought to have crossed many breeds to get the Doberman pinscher. Some of the breeds thought to be involved include the rottweiler, German pinscher, Great Dane, German shepherd dog, Manchester terrier, and English greyhound shorthaired shepherd.

If I live in an apartment, should I get a Doberman?
It can technically work out, however, not recommended;Â if you are able to take them out for activity multiple times throughout the day. Often apartments or rentals have breed/size restrictions. Most breeders would not take a chance and will require their puppy to go to a home where the space of a fenced yard is already set up.
